About Pacient.Care  (from http://www.pacient.care/about-us )

If you’ve ever grumbled about a medical bill or been overwhelmed by health terminology and decisions, Pacient can help. The healthcare system is complicated, and finding answers to your questions isn’t easy. Even knowing what questions to ask can often be a challenge. While plenty of websites provide information for self-diagnosis, or tools for tracking your health, Pacient brings clarity to the other side of healthcare.

Randy Gerber's Bio

A health care attorney with more than 35 years of experience, Randy Gerber founded Pacient.Care in 2016 to help consumers navigate the U.S. health care system by delivering succinct, understandable and knowledgeable answers to patients’ concerns. Through curated, best-in-class content, Pacient.Care conveys concise, easy-to-understand answers on complicated topics such as: insurance, doctors, hospitals, prescription drugs, privacy and technology, and family care.

Gerber came up with the concept for the multi-screen platform after years of assisting clients, friends and family with the non-clinical issues they were facing as health care consumers who were trying to navigate the increasingly complex health care system. Educating people on the health care system came naturally for Gerber, as he has served as an adjunct health care law professor at Saint Louis University School of Law for many years.

In his law practice, Gerber works physicians and physician groups, hospitals and nursing homes in connection with their health-law issues, general corporate, financing, and business matters. In addition, Randy has provided legal services to managed care organizations, home-health providers, and durable medical equipment suppliers. A few of the issues he has advised clients on throughout his career include:

  • Federal and state anti-kickback and self-referral laws
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
  • Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act
  • Executive compensation and charity care
  • Private inurement and benefit
  • False Claims Act
  • Gainsharing
  • Managed care contracting
  • Employment agreement review and drafting
  • Surgery center formation
  • Medical staff bylaws
  • Physician recruitment incentivesCorporate compliance
  • Antitrust issues

In addition, Gerber provides assistance with joint venture formation and structuring, physician practice sales and buyouts, and physician practice group management. He also guides his clients through physician licensing applications, certificate of need application, and state licensure issues. Gerber has also helped form integrated delivery system entities, including physician/hospital organizations, independent physician associations, and preferred provider organizations.
